ALHA Association Cup 2025 – Claiming the Date

Keeping the traditions and skills of the Australian Light Horse and the running of this annual event alive.

We are delighted to announce that once again the event will be hosted by 1st Lighthorse Tamworth Troop and held at the Manilla Showgrounds, River Street Manilla, NSW.

The event will be held on Friday 31st October and Saturday 1st November 2025, with a street parade, full day of competition and weekend of camaraderie.

This event is open to all financial members of the Australian Light Horse Association.

ALHA Association Cup 2025 – Expressions of Interest

The ALHA – Association Cup keeping the traditions and skills of the Australian Light Horse alive. 

The ALHA Board are seeking expressions of interest for the staging of the 2025 ALHA Association Cup.

The event is held annually across Australia and is open to all financial ALHA members.

If your troop is interested in holding the event in your area, we would look forward to hearing from you with your detailed submission.

Membership Renewals for 2024/2025 are now open

Dear Members

Renewals for 2024/2025 are now open.

At the AGM held on 25 May 2024 it was unanimously agreed to increase the fees to $100 for both Riding and Non-Riding members, as all members receive the same extensive insurance coverage and to allow the financial stability of the ALHA and what we provide.

By renewing your membership, you agree to abide by the rules, by-laws and guidelines of the ALHA as documented on this website and on the renewal form. If you have any queries regarding this, please contact us before renewing.

Please ensure that you use the updated forms and details on the website when making your membership payment, whether renewal or application.

Any old forms that you have, will have the incorrect Bank details on them and your payment will not be processed into our account, and this will delay your membership being processed.

In line with the Articles of Association of the Australian Light Horse Association Limited, all nominations for positions on the ALHA Board have now closed.

NOTICE OF 2024 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND NOMINATION PROCESS

NOTICE OF 2024 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Notice is hereby given that the annual general meeting of the members of the Australian Light Horse Association Limited will be held at the West Tamworth League Club – 58 Phillip Street, West Tamworth NSW 2340 and online via ZOOM on Saturday 25 May 2024 at 12:00 pm (AEDT).

Business:

1. To confirm the minutes of the 2023 AGM 

2. To receive and consider the Financial Statements and Auditor’s Report for the year ending 31st December 2023.

3. To elect Board of Directors.

4. Appointment of an Auditor.

5. Ratify 2024/2025 Membership fee

Nominations for the Board of Directors of ALHA Ltd are for the following positions:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Director – Board Members

All nominations for the position of Director or any other position on the Board must be received at the company office no later than the 4.00pm on the 11th May 2024.

Nominations must be signed by the Nominee and 2 other Financial Members of the Association.

Notices of motion

All notices of motion must be received in writing at the Company Office by 4.00pm on the 11th May 2024.

ALHA Board Nominations – 2024/2025

In line with the Articles of Association of the Australian Light Horse Association Limited, an election is required annually for the election of officers and other members of the Committee (Board of Directors). Positions being one (1) President, one (1) Vice President and one (1) Treasurer, along with 13 (13) Directors. All nominations are to be returned to the Returning Officer in the prescribed time, with Voting to be carried out at the AGM.

ALHA Board Nomination – requirements

Those wishing to nominate please read below:

    1. Only current financial Members may nominate, or be nominated, for the election in accordance with the ALHA Articles of Association.
    2. A short bio and photo of the Member nominated, consisting of not more than one A4 page, must accompany the nomination (see form).
    3. All parts of the form must be completed.
    4. This form shall be lodged with the National Secretary at least fourteen days before the annual general meeting at which the election is to take place.
    5. All nominations for the position of Director or any other position on the Board must be received at the company office no later than the 4.00 pm on the 11 May 2024. They must be signed by the Nominee and 2 other Financial Members of the Association.
    6. The National Secretary will acknowledge receipt of this form. 

 

Members are invited to attend the annual general meeting in person or via ZOOM.

ALHA Association Cup 2024 – updated

Keeping the traditions and skills of the Australian Light Horse alive.

The event will be held on Friday 7th June and Saturday 8th June 2024

This event will be hosted by 2nd Light Horse Plainlands Troop and held at the Laidley Showgrounds,
MacGregor St, Laidley QLD.

The venue will be the Laidley showgrounds with Friday for arrival and familiarisation and Saturday for the competition.
 
The showgrounds have available all shower and toilet facilities. It has a mix of stables and 4 panel yards to the number required. The cost and further details for the Friday and Saturday nights see below link.
The meals provided will be a sausage sizzle on Friday night as part of our meet, greet and briefing for Saturday. Saturday night will be a catered 2 course meal in the pavilion and our presentation evening.
 
The competition will be conducted as per ALHA rules with any changes at the discretion of the Chief Judge.
The event is open to all financial ALHA members.

2024 – ALHA Annual General Meeting & Board Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Australian Light Horse Association Limited will held on Saturday the 25th of May 2024 at 12.00pm. 

Following the AGM, the Director’s Meeting will be held.

ALHA Association Cup 2023

Keeping the traditions and skills of the Australian Light Horse alive.

The event will be held on Thursday 19th October and Friday 20th October 2023

This event will be hosted by 1st Lighthorse Tamworth troop and held at the Manilla Showgrounds,
River Street Manilla, NSW.

Riders can nominate as a full troop, as an incomplete troop or individual and we will endeavor to match riders where required.

Nomination fees are all inclusive and provide for stabling, powered camping and meals as summarised on the following program of events.

For those interested in arriving early a .303 Rifle shoot will be conducted at a registered range on Thursday October 19. All wishing to take part in this element of the event must be appropriately licensed, provide their own weapon (.303 rifles only) and ammunition, agree to all requirements of the appointed Range Officer and pay the additional fees for nomination.

The event is open to all financial ALHA members.

It is with deep sadness and regret that we notify our members and friends of the sudden passing of our Patron Major General Warren Glenny this afternoon.

Major General Glenny was the Association’s valued Patron for the past 7 years and his involvement and support during this time was valued by all.

On behalf of the ALHA Board and Members we extend our sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers to his wife Gabrielle and their family.

He will be greatly missed by not only those who knew him but those his life impacted on.
